About Saliha Mahmood Ahmed

Saliha Mahmood Ahmed is the current MasterChef champion, in addition to her roles as a junior doctor in the NHS, wife and mother. Her winning MasterChef final menu showed the many influences on her cooking, including the influence of her maternal grandmother’s Kashmiri style of cooking. Who didn’t want to try the venison shami kebab with kachumber salad, or a saffron rosewater panna cotta served with a deconstructed baklava?

John Torode said of her “Saliha is a class act. She’s walked in here and taken her food culture apart and put it back together in a modern and very exciting way. She always does something a little bit extra – something which always surprises us”.

Saliha continues to pursue her medical career, focused on treating digestive disorders. In the future, she hopes to continue working as a doctor as well as combining it with her passion for gastronomy. Saliha is hoping to work on national campaigns to tackle obesity, particularly in children.

Life was already a whirlwind for Saliha and her husband before her MasterChef win. Her husband Usman is also a doctor, working in Acute Medicine, and they have a three-year-old son, Aashir Ahmed. Not only does Saliha have an excellent command of spices, you’ll also probably find she’s brilliant at multi-tasking and planning.

About your day

Our MasterChef days take place on the beautiful Catton Hall Estate. On the picturesque Derbyshire and Staffordshire border, we are only minutes from the A38. We also have plenty of free parking.

You’ll have the support of our “kitchen fairies” who’ll ensure you have everything you need during the day. Put on your MasterChef apron and get ready for the day’s challenges. We’ll provide all the equipment and ingredients that you’ll need during the day. At the end of the day, you’ll get to take your apron home with you, as well as a MasterChef goody bag.

You’ll be sitting down together during the day to eat the dishes you’ve created. We’ll also provide wine and soft drinks. This is a great opportunity to share your experiences and tips from the challenges. You might also get to hear a few stories from your MasterChef.

Our day courses run from 10.15am to 4 pm. Join the team for early morning refreshments from 10 am.
