About Norman Musa
Born and raised in Malaysia, Norman Musa has a lifelong love of food, even if the starting point was somewhat different. Originally arriving in the UK from Malaysia in 1994, Norman first did his degree in construction management and worked for a number of years as a quality surveyor. The lure of food was too strong for him though. After turning food into his full-time career, he has not looked back.
In 2006, he opened his first restaurant, Ning, in Manchester. This turned out not to be enough for him. He went on to become team chef for the Lotus Formula One team and travelled the world with them. This gave him the opportunity to pick up skills from many different cuisines. While Malaysian food is still his first love, Norman also cooks Chinese, Thai, Vietnamese and Western fusion at the highest level.
Norman has written three cookbooks, including his latest, Amazing Malaysian. He’s also starred in three cooking shows on TV back in Malaysia and is also a regular on British TV. He’s appeared with Tom Kerridge on Best Ever Dishes and on Sunday Brunch. He regularly teaches at cookery schools around the UK and Europe. Norman has also launched a private dining club in the UK, Ireland and the Netherlands.
Norman will be teaching a Malaysian and South Asian cookery course here at Seasoned. With his world experience, he is the perfect person to help unlock the secrets of the flavours of the region.
