About Jack Lucas
A MasterChef finalist in 2014, Jack Lucas was one of the youngest competitors in that year’s competition. He thought his relative inexperience would see him out after the first few rounds. In what was acknowledged to be one of the show’s strongest, and closest, finals, Jack only just lost out to the eventual winner, Ping Coombes.
His time on MasterChef propelled Jack’s passion for cooking forward. He has spent five months travelling the world, picking up new flavours and techniques for his dishes. Jack is also a brand ambassador for Sainsbury’s, sharing new recipes via their website, as well as creating new recipes for their product ranges.
His menus reflect the many influences on modern British cooking, bringing exciting twists to classic ingredients. Jack has been much in demand for private dining experiences, and a typical menu might see him include influences from Vietnam, India and Thailand. At the heart of his cooking, though, is an understanding of the great produce available around the UK, and his recipes really showcase that.
About your day
Our MasterChef days take place on the beautiful Catton Hall Estate. On the picturesque Derbyshire and Staffordshire border, we are only minutes from the A38. We also have plenty of free parking.
You’ll have the support of our “kitchen fairies” who’ll ensure you have everything you need during the day. Put on your MasterChef apron and get ready for the day’s challenges. We’ll provide all the equipment and ingredients that you’ll need during the day. At the end of the day, you’ll get to take your apron home with you, as well as a MasterChef goody bag.
You’ll be sitting down together during the day to eat the dishes you’ve created. We’ll also provide wine and soft drinks. This is an excellent opportunity to share your experiences and tips from the challenges. You might also get to hear a few stories from your MasterChef.
Our day courses run from 10.15am to 4 pm. Join the team for early morning refreshments from 10 am.
