Throughout the day, you will get to enjoy the food you cook in our private dining room with the rest of the group. It will be a great opportunity to share your experiences in creating the dishes as well as the delicious food.

The aim of this course is to learn tasty North Indian recipes which are perfect for those summer months. We aim for you to leave the day feeling confident in recreating the dishes over again for all your family at home, for a season of summer Indian cookery.
Your chef tutor
Sumayya Usmani, born and raised in Pakistan has a huge passion for food and the heritage behind the recipes. After learning her craft from both her Mother & grandmother, she decided she would share the knowledge she learnt with two incredible, award winning cook books, namely; Summers under the Tamarind Tree & Mountain berries and desert spice.
Sumayya has not always enjoyed her passion as her career, with a previous 12 year City Law career under her belt, it is safe to say she has experience in a variety of different sectors.
Since the career move, Sumayya has worked for the likes of Madhur Jaffrey, Sophie Grigson & Rachel Allen. She also regularly appears on the good food channel and other radio broadcasts.
About your day
Our cookery courses take place on the Catton Hall Estate. On the picturesque Derbyshire and Staffordshire border, we are only minutes from the A38. We also have plenty of free parking.
You’ll have the support of our “kitchen fairies” who’ll ensure you have everything you need. We’ll provide an apron for the day, and all the equipment and ingredients.
You’ll be sitting down together during the day to eat the dishes you’ve created. We’ll also provide wine and soft drinks.
Our day courses run from 10.15am to 4 pm. Join the team for early morning refreshments from 10 am.
