‘Who’s making supper?”
A menu with all the skills and know to prepare an entire meal, whether a mid week dinner or a weekend treat involving all the family.
- Basic knife skills
- Making pasta and ravioli
- Making a one pot dish for every day cooking with
- Making a simple dessert which can be altered with different seasonal fruit
On the day you will be making:
- Pea and ricotta stuffed raviolioni
- One pot chicken with rosemary and lemon & new potatoes (vegetarian alternative available)
- Classic Apple Tart with puff pastry, finely sliced apple and apple puree
Our half day cooking classes for kids are designed to give children who enjoy cooking a fun experience with their parents / grandparents / carers to develop their confidence & refine their skills.
Please note – two places for the course need to be purchased – one for adults & one for children. For safeguarding reasons, we can’t accept children without an accompanying adult & that adult does need to be a paying participant.
Your chef tutor
Your tutor will author of ‘Cool Kids Cook’ Jenny Chandler. Jenny is a Bristol based chef, writer and author and is passionate about getting children cooking tasty, nutritious food. Jenny creates a fun and friendly learning atmosphere, perfect for children and adults.

1 | Arrival and refreshments Arrive to the warm welcome of the Seasoned team and meet your fellow cooks and their parents. The group will be limited to 6 parents and 6 children so you are sure to get to know your fellow cooks well. |

2 | Slicing and Dicing
We’ll get started straight away by becoming confident with different knife techniques and slicing the apples for our Apple Tarts and onions for our one pot dish. A great technique for children and adults alike. |

3 | One Pot Dish
With our vegetables superbly sliced we will create our one pot dish, which will be a tasty treat for a mid week supper or a great meal to cook for friends. |

4 | Pasta Making
With our one pot dish simmering we will knead our pasta dough and set to work making beautifully created raviolioni parcels. We will experiment with different pasta shapes and enjoy our ravioli this as a snack in the kitchen. |

5 | Apple Tart Demonstration After enjoying the pasta as a snack in the kitchen Jenny will demonstrate how to make a classic Apple tart with the sliced apples we have. |

6 | Eating & departing Enjoy your one pot dish with a slice of apple tart before departing full of new skills and fresh ideas to take back to your own kitchen. |
About your day
Our cooking courses for kids take place on the Catton Estate in south Derbyshire. We are easy to find, situated just off the A38 in between Burton & Lichfield. We have plenty of free parking and our kitchens are light airy & warm.
This parent & child cookery day is designed for 9-15 year olds who would like to come and spend the day working alongside their parents / carers and
On the day you’ll be mainly working in pairs and you will have the support of our “kitchen fairies” who’ll ensure you have everything you need. We’ll provide an apron for the day, and all the equipment and ingredients.
Our half day morning courses run from 9am to 12pm. Join the team for early morning refreshments from 8.45am.Our half day afternoon courses run from 1.30pm to 4.30pm. Join the team for refreshments from 1.15pm.
