The De ferrers Acadamy Baking Day

Seasoned were delighted to welcome The De ferres Academy for two days of baking, they were taught by Jules Gilbert, author of the the Butcher Baker blog.

Each day, 24 eager students arrived at the venue armed with biscuit tins ready to take their freshly baked treats home and share with their family.

The aim of the day was to challenge the students to learn new skills by encouraging them to ask questions and experiment. Another aim for the day was to get the student working in teams to produce their four beautiful bakes.

Bakes on the day were:

  1. Red Pepper Tart– a delicious tart with homemade shortcrust pastry which was enjoyed for lunch.
  2. Vanilla Swirl Cookies– delicious biscuits made with two different colour dough’s to create a wonderful swirl effect.
  3. Iced Chocolate Cupcakes– a firm favourite- beautifully iced with buttercream.
  4. Iced Red Berry Cupcakes–  decorated with piped buttercream and fondant icing blue birds.


 Gill, from the De ferres Acadmy says: 

“I really would like to thank the Seasoned team for two fantastic days.  The students thoroughly enjoyed themselves and also I think quite amazed themselves on how good they really are. Parents have also admired their handy work and I know already the recipes have been tried and tested again at home”.
