Nadine told us that her mum want to do something for her 70th that she’s never done before and I think this certainly ticked that box. We worked closely to with Nadine to ensure this day was exactly how she imagined it would be. There’s no better way to celebrate, than being surrounded by family, cooking and baking for one another.

The day was an extremely fun family cook off day, with two teams of five ageing from 8 to 70 years old, preparing a three course meal which they then enjoyed in the afternoon. The Head Chef on the day was Jeff Thomas, who demonstrated each dish & all there individual elements, to the teams. Jeff has been teaching with us since 2012 and has had over 40 years experience as a chef!!  The family also welcomed Hermione from Goodbye Shy Photography to take photos of their wonderful cook off event at Seasoned.

The family arrived just after 11am for champagne to kick start Judith’s birthday celebrations, shortly after Nadine placed her family into two teams and the Cook off began!! With the menu set the teams had a lot of prep work to get on with before they could even start their cooking. From prepping their pasta dough, rolling our their pastry to marinading their delicious lamb, the day was extremely fun filled and very hands on!!

The Menu for the cook off day

Starter
Lobster tail ravioli with a lobster bisque sauce
Main course
Garlic and rosemary marinated and roasted lamb rump with sweet potato puree,
sautéed winter greens and a red wine jus
Dessert
Individual chocolate tart with berry compote and Chantilly cream

Family Cook off

The two teams learnt lots of new and exciting skills and cooking techniques, such as hand rolling pasta to make their lobster ravioli to making shortcrust pastry and blind baking their chocolate tarts. It was a great family effort preparing and cooking all the food. The kitchen was full of energy and by the time the starter was about to be served, appetites had developed and tummies were definitely rumbling.

Family Cook off

Once the starter had been plated the family were seated in the dining room where they enjoyed their first course. All that was left to do was to cook off their Lamb and vegetables before enjoying the rest of their meal. The Seasoned team then served up there desserts for the family to enjoy.

It was a fantastic day and so great to meet such a fun and friendly family!
