Did you know that as well as cookery courses we also run team building days?
We love welcoming groups of all ages to Seasoned and our first group of 2018 were the most athletic group yet. Earlier this month we were very privileged to welcome the British Swimming Team, including Olympic medalists Adam Peaty and Molly Renshaw, for an evening of cookery and nutrition.
A brilliant group of talented individuals, our chef certainly put them through their cooking paces. While this was a team building event, as you can imagine with this group, there was more than an element of competition. Split into three teams, their challenge was to make restaurant quality dishes with food they can realistically eat on their training diets.
Culinary team challenge
They started out with how to make perfectly poached eggs and salmon. This is a simple, light dish that is packed with protein, making it ideal for the team’s nutritional needs. For the rest of us, it makes a delicious supper dish.
The risotto challenge saw some quite different final dishes. We can’t decide which we would choose: the chicken, pea and pesto, or the lemon and chorizo risotto with pan-fried sea bass.
Which one would you go for?
To finish things off, they created a plum crumble, proving that even elite athletes can still get to enjoy a good pudding. Just goes to show that being incredibly fit doesn’t preclude you from the odd indulgence, or having a sweet tooth.

So, what did they make of this change to their usual training?
Adam Peaty said, “I really enjoyed the cooking experience and the friendly staff. I enjoy spending time in the kitchen, and as part of my life as an athlete, I have to be really diligent in my approach with cooking. I would recommend to anyone looking to learn more about what to do with food and enjoy a great activity and environment.”
