- Making, filling & rolling a Swiss roll
On the day you will be making:

- Flatbread with an accompanying hummus / dip
- Swiss roll filled with jam & cream
Our half day baking classes for kids are designed to give children who enjoy baking an experience with their parents / carers to develop their confidence & refine their skills.
Please note – two places for the course need to be purchased – one for adults & one for children. For safeguarding reasons, we can’t accept children without an accompanying adult & that adult does need to be a paying participant.
Your chef tutor
Your tutor will be 2013 Great British Bake Off finalist Beca Lyne-Pirkis, who teaches our baking classes for kids as well as a range of other baking courses. Beca is a talented baker and has two young children of her own. Beca creates a fun and friendly learning atmosphere, perfect for children and adults.
1/2 Day Baking for Kids | 9:00 – 12:00 / 13.30 – 16.30 | ||
---|---|---|---|
1 | Arrival and refreshments Arrive to the warm welcome of the Seasoned team and meet your fellow bakers and their parents. The group will be limited to 6 parents and 6 children so you are sure to get to know your bakers well. |
||
2 | Pizza and flatbread dough
We’ll get started straight away by kneading the dough for your pizza’s and flatbreads. Using Strong White Flour we will develop the gluten necessary for the doughs to rise whilst we continue with the rest of the baking. This will be done in pairs – one dough mix for each parent and child combination. |
||
3 | Swiss Rolls Beca will demonstrate how to make your swiss rolls, before we begin this individually. Perhaps the adults lending a hand to the children with some of the trickier elements. Everybody will put their own swiss roll into the oven to bake. A quick bake, this will soon be ready to cool and then roll. |
||
4 | Hummus & flatbread
Chef Beca will demonstrate how to make hummus and talk about how this can be varied with different vegetables. Sweet potato hummus and Beetroot hummus are some of the favourites in the Seasoned team. Beca will demonstrate how to make a great flatbread and participants will enjoy a little snack of hummus & flatbreads around the chef demo bench in the kitchen. |
||
5 | Making Pizza With our doughs well proved we will roll out our pizzas, making them as individual and creative as you fancy with different shapes & herbs as the toppings. Whilst these are cooking, we will assemble our swiss rolls with delicious jam and cream. |
||
6 | Eating & departing Enjoy the pizzas you have cooked in our dining room before perhaps nibbling on a slice of Beca’s swiss roll before everybody departs with new found confidence to tackle these recipes at home again. |
