What time do your courses start and finish?
- The majority of our courses run from 10:30 - 4:00, exact timings will be give to you when you enquire / book on a course
- Please arrive any time from 10:00 for refreshments and to familiarise yourself with the venue to ensure that we start on time
What should I expect if I come on a day course?
- Depending on the course we will aim to do between 6-8 dishes. The day will consist of work in pairs, Chef Demonstrations and hands on cooking. We feel that by incorporating a mix of different teaching styles you can cover more in a day and leave with the practical knowledge and confidence to re-create dishes at home.
- You will taste everything you cook, having 'tasters' throughout the day and sitting down to a good lunch which you will have created yourself.
- The maximum number on a course is between 10-12 people to ensure that you get the individual attention required.
- Our venue is a characterful converted barn on an Organic Beef Farm in a beautiful part of the Peak District.
Where are your courses held?
- We are based in the Midlands, with a venue in Derbyshire, near the Peak District National Park. Please see our location page for more information
- We conduct courses either at our venue or at a venue convenient to you; this may be a school, holiday cottage or at your own home.
- 'Head Office' is a lovely farmhouse in Staffordshire; our correspondence address is Brook House Farm, Birch Cross, Uttoxeter, Staffordshire, ST14 8TU. However please don't arrive here for courses!
I have a Gift Voucher, how do I redeem it?
- Please decide which course you would like to attend and then e-mail or call us with your details (including the Issue number on your Gift Voucher).
- Please also state whether you have any dietary requirements.
- We will then confirm your space.
- If you would like to upgrade the value of your Gift Voucher you can, simply choose the course that you want to come on and phone us with your payment details to pay the balance. All Gift Vouchers are valid for 12 months from the date of issue.
- If your Gift Voucher is higher in value than your preferred course then we will issue you with a Credit Note. Unfortunately we can not give refunds.
I have a Gift Voucher for a specific course that I can not attend - can you help?
- If you have have been booked onto a specific course as a present you are able to change it provided you give us AT LEAST 6 weeks notice. If you cancel within 6 weeks you will forfeit your place.
What do I need to bring?
- Sensible shoes that are safe in a kitchen environment; ie no high heels or open toes as you will be working with sharp knives and hot food
- Several layers; the kitchens can get warm however it is nice to be able to stretch your legs outside if it is a nice day
- Some courses require you to bring warm clothes / cake tins etc - you will be notified of this when booking
I am vegetarian / have a food allergy, can you accommodate this?
- We must know about this prior to booking and we will endeavour to make suitable arrangements for you.
- Please be aware that our venue is an Organic Beef Farm with onsite butchers shop.
What level are your courses aimed at?
- We provide courses for all levels, the emphasis being on practical skills and dishes that you will use again. The course descriptions give a good idea of the skill level required to make the most out of the course but please contact us if you are unsure.
I am interested in a course but cannot make the dates you are offering, is there anything you can do?
- Yes - we can take your details and keep you on the waiting list for the next available course.
- Alternatively if you have a group of over 8 people we will do our best to organise the course and the location that you want. Please contact us for more information.
I want to book a course, how can I pay?
- You can either book online, or phone us and we can take your details over the phone.
- We accept Visa Debit cards but unfortunately have to charge 2.5% for Mastercard and Credit Card transactions as we are charged this by the banks.
- We unfortunately can not accept American Express.
